Updates arent through Apple
So heres my problem. I was given a UE Boom speaker for Christmas, and when I downloaded and tried to use the app, I got a warning that I needed to update the app to be able to use the remote and other features advertised on the package. But I had just downloaded the app. So it should have been the most current, right? Wrong. The most current app is only available at the Logitech website, if--you guessed it--you give up all your personal information. So aside from the obvious (Logitech is forcing you to contribute to their mailing list), why is Logitech evading Apple and the standards I expect from Apples App developers?
